The team

Who

Soap For Society believes everyone deserves to feel clean and have dignity through sanitary and beauty products

Jono Hart is our current Chair. He met Lucy in 2017 when working at NZX in Wellington and became interested in helping with Soap For Society in its first year in 2018, organising the office collection and sparking an interest to remain involved. Jono has a career in financial compliance and brings his management, governance, policy and regulatory experience to Soap For Society.

Jono recently migrated to Auckland with his two rescue cats creating an opportunity to establish an Auckland representative.

Originally from the UK, Anna Dobson is an adopted New Zealander with a passion for helping those less fortunate in her new home of Christchurch.

With a strong background in leadership and operational management, she brings her skills and connections to the Soap for Society board in the role of Secretary and official representative for the Christchurch region.

Originally from France, Maureen Placente has been calling Wellington home for the last seven years. Working full-time as a Senior CX Designer at Optimal Workshop, Maureen is also an illustrator under the name La Chapardeuse in her spare time.

She has teamed up with Lucy from the very beginning in 2018, out of a desire for raising awareness among people like herself of hygiene poverty.

Mel Sommerville recently joined Soap for Society in 2022. A long time friend of founder Lucy, Mel has followed the initiative from campaign to charity and is excited to join the team in raising awareness about hygiene poverty and supporting the city missions.

Mel has a working background in recruitment and not for profit organisations, as well as a variety of creative endeavours. These days, Mel is busy looking after her two young children on the Kapiti Coast.

Lucy Revill founded Soap For Society in 2018 when she saw a gap in the way we donate to our City Missions. Inspired by Beauty Banks UK, Lucy decided to start a similar movement in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Lucy left the Soap For Society team in 2022 to begin her new adventure in the United Kingom.
